Nova Scotia Gingerbread Recipe

Nova Scotia Gingerbread Recipe
Ingredients:
1/4 cup shortening 1/4 cup lightly packed brown sugar 1/3 cup molasses 1 egg 1 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp ginger, ground 1/4 tsp cloves 3/4 cup boiling water
Instructions:
Cream shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in molass
Stir dry ingredients gently into creamed mixture alternately with boiling
Spoon batter into a lightly greased 8x4 inch or 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Bake in 350 F oven 40-45 minutes (check - could be less for larger pan) un
Cool in pan 10 min, remove and cool completely. Wrap tightly to store.
