Hot Chocolate, Mexican - Atkins Recipe




Ingredients:

1 cup cream
1 cup water
5 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 pkt Splenda, or other sweetener
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 stick cinnamon

Instructions:

&1: 2" long, preferably delicate Mexican variety

The Aztecs made hot, spiced beverages with chocolate centuries before
Europeans came into contact with the precious cocoa bean. Their modern
Mexican descendants still spice hot chocolate with cinnamon and nuts to
make an intriguing beverage.

1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Heat over medium flame
until scalded but not boiling; stir with a whisk. Turn off heat; cover and
let steep 2 minutes. Stir well, and serve with a cinnamon stick in coffee
mugs.
